Hi,

I've seen several refereces in the forums, blogs and documentation that if photos are moved outside of LR that they will become orphaned in LR. And, this makes perfect sence, but I could not figure out how to manage photos correctly from LR. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Thank you,
Brendan

Brendan,

Specifically, what are you trying to do? You can create folders, and move, rename or delete folders and images.

Hi Brad,

Thank you for responding. Yes. Rename folders, Create folders, and Move photos from one folder to another. I am looking for these changes then to map back to the file system (i.e. Windows Explorer).

I am new to LR, so I must just be clicking on the wrong thing.

Thanks again,
Brendan

For the most part these operations are done through Contextual Menus in LR. Left or Control-CLick on a Folder for renaming, syncing, Folder promotion and creation. And Drag & Drop for moving/repositioning Folders.

Don means right or control-click - in your case it'll be right click on Windows.

John, correct you are. Too early in the morning for me! :)

Thank you all. Everything above was really helpful, but I was still having trouble with moving photos. That was the least obvious task that I was trying to do, but I just figured out how.

First, I was attempting to drag and drop photos, but this didn't work. I also tried right clicking on photos, but that also didn't work. (if either of these should have worked, could someone please let me know what I may be missing).

What I just figured out was I needed to select the photos then right click on the folder I wanted to move them to and then select move photo.

Thanks for everyone's help!
Brendan
