Is it possible to combine two or more images into a flat combined single image? I don't want a panorama or perspective result, but simply two or three different images side by side in a single file. For example, combining a few photos of family members into a single image. Thanks.

This is a project for Photoshop. You can also try to get what you’re after using the print module and print to a file. But Photoshop is the best tool for this.

In LrC, Use the print module to arrange the images as you desire. Then "Print to file" rather than print to printer and you'll get a JPG of collage.

Thank you. It looks like I can accomplish my goal using the print module without having to learn Photoshop!

There is nothing to learn if you are just creating a canvas to place images. I think Photoshop is more flexible than the print module of LrC.
