Is it possible to restore only one folder from a backup?

In reorganizing my file structure I have deleted a part of one folder and don't want to have to restore the whole catalogue as I have made changes to other folders since the last backup. (In fact, I only want to restore part of the folder - but it won't be a disaster if I have to the whole folder...)

Any advice will be gratefully received.
Thanks
Alan

Alan, welcome to the forums!! To help us help you could you please take a moment to fill in your signature in the "userCP' that is found in the nav-bar at the top left of the page - thanks.

Could you just synchronise that folder?? This may achieve what you are after.

If you're a Mac user, Time Machine would be ideal for a scenario like this.

It sounds to me like the question is related more to the backup software in question and what it can do for you. Though I may of course be wrong...

Alan, what exactly did you do?

Delete the original image files (raws, JPGs?) from a folder using something like Explorer/Finder?

Or did you remove them from the Lr catalog?

These are two quite different problems with different solutions.

Where the images already adjusted/edited/metadata'd in Lr?

Thanks for the comments.

Brad - I've still got the original raw image files; I deleted the Lr files from the Lr catalogue. So I want to restore just the Lr folder for that one set of images - rather than restore the whole Lr catalogue. Is that possible?

Since you have removed the files from the LR catalogue, and still the raw files you can just re-import the particular files.

Thanks Mark - that sounds like the answer!
(Frustratingly I'm away on a business trip for a couple of days, but I'll give it a go when I get back.)
