PANASONIC LUMIX LX3

I'm new to the forum and to Lightroom, so my apologies if the query is crass. I was considering the purchase of a Lumix LX3 until one of the reviews which I read claimed that the RAW files couldn't be read by LR, but only by the proprietary version of Silkypix. Given that I've only recently purchased LR (v2.6) to try to simplify my life (limited success so far) this stopped me in my tracks. It seems very surprising - is it true?

Well, according to this web-page, you should be OK....assuming the Lumix LX3 is the same as the DMC-LX3?

I don't know if Panasonic tweeks their proprietary RAW fomat everytime they introduce a new model like Canon, But LR likes my LX1 raw format just fine. And according to the link by TMC, you'll be OK.

There was a delay for support with the LX3 raw files as the conversion has to do lens correction. This link has some good info. http://homepages.tig.com.au/~parsog/panasonic/16-rawconv.html Lightroom does the RAW conversion and lens correction.

Lightroom definitely includes LX3 support. We've been using it since support was ontroduced with no problems.

Interestingly, the noise reduction functions in 2.6 seem to work much better on the files from the Lumix than on the files from our Nikon D2x and D2''.

Thanks for the very helpful replies - a great introduction to the forum. In fact I've decided to buy a Canon Powershot S9' instead, but I still really appreciate your support.
