I have downloaded lightroom 2.' and photoshop. My desktop computer uses windows Vista home premium 32 bit. My camera is a Nikon D9'. I have shot in both jpeg and raw. I have tried many ways to import my photos into lightroom - card reader, directly from my computer and portable hard drive. LIghtroom simply won't take my raw files. The message I get is that the files are "unsupported or damaged" I know they are not damaged. I worked with a guy from dell for over an hour yesterday - no luck. Is there a chance I need the Nikon NX software to make this all work? Any help would be appreciated. Pam

The D9' is supported since Lightroom 2.1. You have to update to LR 2.1 or better 2.3 RC which is available on Adobe Labs.

For Photoshop you need an update of the Camera Raw Plugin. You can download the last official release 5.2 or the 5.3 RC (via Adobe Labs)

thanks for your response. I downloaded LR 2.3 - still tells me my raw files are unsupported. Could it be a default setting on my computer?

Can't Import Raw files on Lightroom OR Photoshop

I have a Nikon D9' camera. I use Windows Vista Home Premium. I am unable to import my Raw files to either LR or PS.

Jurgen was kind enough to suggest I download Lightroom 2.3, and for Photoshop, Camera Raw 5.3 (which I did) I also downloaded DNG Converter 5.3.

No luck with either software. Any further suggestions? thanks!

Hate to ask the obvious, but just to rule it out, after downloading, did you run through the installation process?

Yes I did. Both LR and PS will accept my jpegs, but not raw files. I'm open to any other suggestons. thanks.

"Unsupported or damaged" usually indicates that Lightroom thinks an earlier version is still installed. Can you confirm that Lightroom 2.3 is actually installed via Help->About Lightroom?

"I CAN import them into the picture file on my computer with no problem" — I have no idea what picture file you are talking about here. Are you saying that you can move the photos to your computer's hard disk?
