Organizing my folders from a remote drive.

Hi all
I apologize for bringing up the dreaded how to import subject, but I am pulling what I have left of my hair out.

My current work flow is:
Import photos from my camera to a new folder on my laptop. I would then view the photos in Canon's ZoomBrowser, delete the nasties, then move to PhotoShop CS3 where I would do some PP. In the end I will have three folders within the new folder which would contain the Raw files, Tiffs and jpegs. When I was finished I would then move the new folder (containing the three folders) to a drive on my desktop for archiving. Unfortunately, ZoomBrowser does not support remote drives...so I looked into LightRoom2. Well, now that I have it...I am a little bewildered by how to import my current archive of files. I would love to be able to keep my current file structure but I have no idea how to make that happen.

Then when it's time to used LightRoom for real, what would be a similar work flow to closely match what I am used to following? I am so sorry for bringing this up, but I am close to throwing in the towel...very confused right now .

You can import your current file structure from a remote drive as follows:

Make sure the drive is connected.
click "File" ... "Import Photos from Disk" or
click the Import button at the lower left.
select your drive and topmost directory from the Finder window/or Windows equivalent
then "Choose"
in the topmost dropdown box select "Add photos to catalog without moving"

Lucky, you are a star....that is working perfectly. Thanks so much.
Now I just need to figure out my work flow and I will be on my way...
Any suggestions as to how I can work on photos locally then move them to the remote drive?
