I'm so confused about organizing my photos. Is there a great tutorial that I can learn from? (I subscribe to Lynda.com) If I edit them in lightroom are they also edited as such and saved in the folder on the desktop where I also downloaded them from my camera?
How can I get thumbnails in the folders on my desktop? When I save as in CS3 there are thumbnails...
Could someone please share their workflows? I've never felt more disorganized in my life.
And how doe BRIDGE fit in anymore?..is it obsolete along with CameraRaw?
Thanks for any help!

Hi. I was as confused as you when I started using Lightroom. all the changes you make can ONLY be seen in LR. If you want to see them in other DAM software or applications you must export them to another folder.

Thanks for responding and your help...
So you download your originals to LR (which I also copy/back up to an external HD).

Then you edit them in LR and export them to another file. Then I guess you have the option of deleting the originals so you don't clog up your HD.

Does that sound about right?

Madam: I've bin recommended "Lessons in DSLR Workflow with Lightroom and Photoshop' by Jerry Courvoisier which has just hit the shelves.

Not exactly. There is a lot of information on this subject, but check out the following to really help you get going (in no particular order):

Scott Kelby's Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers (You can also search for the Lightroom 1 book while waiting for the Lightroom 2 book to be released.)
Martin Evening's The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book
Adobe's The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Classroom in a Book

And our very own Victoria Bampton's Adobe Lightroom 2: The Missing FAQ

There are other books available, but I am not familiar with them at the moment. As a matter of fact, we have some other authors here, but I am not sure if they are ready to announce their books just yet, so I'll leave that up to them.
