Hi,

I am able to Open an image from LR in PS but NOT save the edited version back to LR (CLOUD). Any suggestions. Both programmes are up to date.

How are you trying to save the edited version?

The process is to keep Lr open while you are editing in PS, then when editing is complete you must close the image in PS (then select "Save" in the resulting dialog), after which Lr should then import the Tiff from PS.

Thank you Jim. I had been going to File>Save or Save As in PS rather than close>save. I couldn't understand what was going on as I have used this on many occasions but not recently! Thanks again.

I do some minor edits in lightroom classic then go to PS and use the spot healing brush tool. The edited photo from photoshop doesn't show up in LRC when I use save, or save as for that matter . I have uninstalled and reinstalled both photoshop and LRC, restarted my compute and I have used the adobe cleaner. I have reinstalled PS first than LRC. I have tried save, save as and close PS and save on exit. LRC is open when I am working on the file in PS. I have looked at the strip to see if the PS edited photo is in a different order, but it is not. I have reset preferences in both LRC and PS. I am at a loss to what else I should try. This seems to be a recent problem as I didn't have issues before . I run Sonoma 14.1.2 on a Mac Book M2 Pro 13 inch.

First, There is no need to make a round trip to Photoshop for spot healing. In Lightroom, you can use the Spot Healing "Eraser" tool to do the job without having to make a derivative in your round trip to Photoshop.

Now for the Edit in issue: More information is needed. Which version of Lightroom are you running and which version of Photoshop? It is not clear from your post, but are you using the LrC edit-in function to send a file to Photoshop?

When using the Edit-in function in LrC are you starting from a folder or a Collection? In the LrC grid view, is the folder/collection set to sort as Added Order or Capture Date or something else? Have you checked at the end of the Collection/Folder to see if the returned file is not next to the source file?

You should be able to start from a static collection or from a folder and Photoshop will save the file as a TIF or PSD back to your Lightroom Catalog folder and Collection. If you start from a Smart Collection, the returned file will be saved to the original folder and only to the Smart Collection IF it meets all of the criteria for the Smart Collection. Lightroom Classic needs to remain open and running in the background while you work in Photoshop.

I can think of no reason why this might be otherwise if all of the above remain true.

You can close Photoshop and you will be prompted to save any unsaved files. You can save and the file will be created and saved IN Photoshop as a TIF or PSD. Can you verify that this is happening? You can use Save As and the same thing happens except you will be prompted for a file name.

I did a search based on the file number in LRC and found the files that had been edited in photoshop. They are in one of my folders. They contain the edits that I made in PS.

The photos that I edited were taken from a collection set . Within that collection set I have 3 collections - all photos/picked/5 stars . If I search that collection set I find the photo that was edited in LRC but the edits from PS have not been saved.

I have exited photoshop and tried save and save as and the file is still not going to LRC.

Your first paragraph does not agree with your last paragraph. If you are finding the files that have been edited in Photoshop shop Are you saying that these files are not being imported into Lightroom Classic? But are in the correct folders along side the Lightroom original?

Yes, I didn't express myself very well.

What I am trying to say is that the photos used to be returned from PS to LRC in the collection they came out of. Now they go to the correct folder but I have to find them in the folder and drag them back into the collection. There is no flag, stars or anything associated with these photos. I found them by using the text menu and typing in the file number. The edited versions are in the folder along side the original.

Cletus, the much improved healing in Lr is still far inferior and frustrating when compared to the Ps functionality. Same with remove.

If I want to remove a spot, telephone wire, or other small offensive object, the spot healing eraser is all I need and it sure beats a round trip and an extra file to manage by going to Photoshop. What will get me into Photoshop is something that Generative fill or Generative expand can manage.
