Question or Description of Problem:

I found this link in a photography mailing list, from someone who is concerned about the future of LR.

What Just Happened to Lightroom?

Interesting... I replied to that post earlier today, purely answering their “questions” about the changes. That reply is no longer anywhere to be found. I find that a little suspect.

I think every one of the RAW processing app vendors is delighted that Adobe has stumbled bringing their newest release to the public. I don't put much stock in such posts as they are mostly hype about their product. It should be pointed out that On1 still does not have a Data asset manager that is not based on the filesystem with all of its limitations.

as some know; I have been fiddling with On1 as a replacement for adobe but to be totally honest Lr5 is still way faster for doing lots of basic edits like the 175 happy snap wedding files I have just edited for a friend who used my old Canon G12. On1 certainly has some great advanced editing features, however I cannot see myself deleting Lr any time soon.
Luminar for PC is still a work in progress; although I have found the beta version not overly exciting so far

My thoughts with the Abode/cc/classic stuff is if you have been using Lr; are a happy snapper but don't own a Lr version you should consider buying Lr6 asap. There seems so much missing in other programs and I have found it hard going without the toys I have become accustomed to. However the new kids on the block may well be good enough for those new to all this stuff .

On a side note -- looking at the full auto jpg files taken at the worst possible time for people pics with my old Canon G12 has me thinking i should re-investigate the G5x a bit more. Please send me a PM if you have one or have any good/bad info about the camera.
So glad I don't have to worry about photographing weddings any more. Just so much bs lol

Having your workflow defined is easy to check which of the vendors suits you. In my case, C1 is checking ok in all my workflow steps but exporting a low res from the “smart preview” and “having a plug-in to upload pics to my web provider”. So, I’m pretty much sure I’ll be moving in 2018
