I am wondering why I have to keep the original file in the original folder or else I get the message at the top of my pictures in Lightroom that the image is off line or missing.
I saved the original, just put it in a separate folder in case I want to go back and edit a different way....but I only want the final finish product in the main folder. Is there a way to do this without getting that "error" message?
Thanks!!!!

Hi Laurel

Lightroom is a database, which means it just keeps records of where you've stored the files. If you move a file without Lightroom knowing, then it puts that question mark on the image.

Solutions:

1. Don't move the file
2. Move the file within LR's interface, dragging it into the folder you want.
3. Move the file outside of LR and then click on the question mark to point to the right place.

thanks Victoria!
I think I figured out a way to manage my files more efficiently, and avoid that error message.

That's great Laurel.
