Hi,

Just looking for some advice. Files in catalog are no longer linked to previous location but are on a backup drive.

How do I make LR see them and be able to write .xmp data in tandem sidecar files? What happens to the previous .xmp data. (I presume written into .lrdata - this is a file tree with multiple subfolders/directories, in which directory should it reside)

I'll try to post a screenshot just now, might make more sense.

Many Thanks

Johnny

Not too sure what you are after here Johnny. Welcome. The changes are made to files are always in the data.lrcat file and can be written to xmp files as well. Are you looking to relink files that have been moved on your HD that LR has broken links for?

I'm with Geoff here, Johnny. Your problem is not very clearly explained. One clarification, the *.lrdata folder has nothing to with the problem. That's where Lr's preview cache is stored.

If you can give us concrete details about where the image files are, and where they used to be before the problem started, we can give more specific advice.
