Ode to broken workflow

Hi all,
I am using lightroom to edit mostly my photos. Many times I am using editors that I call inside lightroom.
That is the imagenomic plugin as well as the exposure X plugins.
I have noticed that when these external editors "return" me back an edited tiff file, I end up having a files with no more lightroom attributes (stars, color tags) and keywords.

This is really problematic when I use catalogues to keep my work at one place, for example editing a wedding. The edited tiff files are not any more part of those catalogues and end up unsorted, with no stars, color tags and keywords in the catalogue (that I need considerable amount of time to find those)

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

PhotoshopCC is "smart" enough to retain (or add) derivative images into Collection and to maintain metadata (at least it does with LRCC2015.x) . In theory, it should be possible for other editors to do the same. Therefore the problem either must lie with these editors and how they treat metadata or the intermediate file created by your version of LR. D/L a trial of LRCC and see if the edit in functions behaves to preserve your metadata and collections
