This is giving me a hard time.
I have Smart Folders in every Collection set that say: "CAPTURE DATE IS" and "HAS ADJUSTMENT IS TRUE"
It's all working very well.
Today i wanted to Edit a file from one of these "Smart Folders" in ColorFX Pro.
The checkbox for "Edit a Copy" was on and then the file was duplicated in the SMART FOLDER for the Files that have been ADJUSTED IN LIGHTROOM.
I tried the same in a different COLLECTION SET in ANOTHER SMART FOLDER. Now the file was only duplicated in the Main Photolibrary. No duplicate of the file in THIS smart folder.
sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...

THX!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome aboard...

I'm a bit confused with your post... Folders and (Smart)Collections are different. Are you working in folders or collections or smart collections or all 3 ? It is important to know this so we can help.

Ey Nik!

i'm trying to Edit a File with an External Editor (Color FX Pro Complete) in a SMART COLLECTION. so the file i wanna work with is a virtual copy out of a SMART COLLECTION.
Photo: EDIT IN--->ColorFXPro

Sometimes it works correctly by creating a full sized .tif File next to the virtual copy of the file in the SMART COLLECTION.
(Sometimes) It will be in the Smart SMART COLLECTION and in "ALL PHOTOGRAPHS".

and there are cases when the '.edit_tif' file is only duplicated into "all photographs". although i selected it in the SMART COLLECTION.

My workflow works like this:
I'm creating a COLLECTION SET.
This Collection Set will contain all the Photos of a certain project. let's call it PROJECT ONE.
In this Collection Set i have a COLLECTION which is named PROJECT ONE ALL.
And i'll have a SMART COLLECTION that i will name PROJECT ONE ENHANCED-which will have ALL the ADJUSTED photographs from 'PROJECT ONE ALL'. This all works nice and neat except for the external editor...

hope this helps...

Ok, I see now. "CAPTURE DATE IS" should be ok but "HAS ADJUSTMENT IS TRUE" may not hold as it creates a new tiff which may not have this set to true. I haven't tested this though but I would check these details next time an image doesn't appear. Also check that the external editor is not stripping / updating these two pieces of meta-data.

Stacked images don't automatically appear in Collections either. (something that I have trouble with)

What I think you can do is use the Alt/Opt nested conditions - hold down Alt/Opt when hitting the + to add condition. Pretty sure that would allow you to create a smart collection definition that will catch these files too.

THANKS NIK&JOHN!

Yeah, what Nik said about the SMART COLLECTION SETTING (and that with .tif it is different) was what i was thinking too-still, it worked out a couple of times and then it just didn't. so i got a little confused...

Anyways. I tried the nested option but all of a sudden i realized that it might get tricky with so many Parameter settings.
So i came across a different approach: In THE PROJECT ONE ALL Collection, i clicked "EDIT IN ... " -Edit in ColorFx Pro or PS.
I created a 2nd (which will be the last) SMART COLLECTION that has the PArameters of CAPTURE DATE AND FILE TYPE (.Tif).
I named this SMART COLLECTIOn "ProjectOneExternalEnhanced"- Voilà!
Now i can sleep again!

Thank's for your tremendous support!!!!!!!!!
