No previews in LR for HEIC files

I occasionally import photos from my iPhone 11 and used to get previews in LR Classic (latest version on a MacOS), but not anymore. I don't even get them in the Creative Cloud app (see screenshot). Oh, the photos show up fine after they are imported, it just makes it kind of difficult to decide what to import in the first place. What could be going on?
