No previews from CR2 direct from Canon Camera during import

Perhaps this is a known issue ... I did perform a search on this forum but found nothing similar ..so here is my first post:

When importing CR2 files into LR (2.4) I only get grey boxes in stead of tumbnails. This happens only when I connect through USB directly to the camera.
When I use a card reader I get low res thumbnails. Is this a know issue ? I presume so because I also found it mentioned on other forums.
If so, is there a workaround ? I prefer connecting the camera directly since this is the fasted way (I'm kinda lazy).

Hi PGe, welcome to the forum!

Have a look on your camera and see whether there's a difference between connection settings - something like PTP or Mass Storage - and try both settings.

Also, check Canon's website for the latest drivers, as I have vague recollections it may be a limitation of the camera drivers.

Victoria, thank you for your answer .. I checked my camera (Canon 4'' D aka Rebel XT).
I still have the original firmware v 1.'.4 and that does not have a "connection" setting...nore PTP or Mass storage entries.
Good Idea to check the Canon site ... 'll be back

I just checked my 35'd, firmware 1.'.3, and it's called 'communication' on the last menu screen on there.
