Question or Description of Problem:

I have down loaded the new Lightroom Classic CC and it has no photographs in it.

I think the fault was mine in that when the download asked if it should overwrite the Lightroom data on my PC, or to use a different location, I picked a different location on a different hard drive as the second hard drive has more available space. The Lightroom Classic CC dater did not appear in the new location, it is now empty and Lightroom Classic CC has no photographs in it

I had about 14000 photographs in light room and if I try down lodging them from My Photographs [Windows 7] I only recover 6000.

Is there any way I can start the upgrade again and this time pick the data overwrite option?

Lightroom uses a catalog, so you have to create a new one or use/convert an existing one. What happened is that you created a new one, so that's why you don't see any photos. Go to 'File - Open Catalog' and select your old catalog. The default location is a folder inside your Picture folder. Lightroom will ask you to convert it. Say yes.

When you let LR convert, it will make a copy of your existing catalog file converted to the new LR7 database structure. Your original catalog will remain as is and can be used in LRCc2015.x if you need to revert.

Thank you for the advice. When I go to My Picture folder to look for my for the old catalog. The folder is a bit of a mess with 135 GB bits of data in at least 60 folders [mostly dated] it has a Lightroom Folder which contains 5 folders:

Backup 2.97 GB

Lightroom 5 Catalog [CB1] Previews. Irdata 163 MB

Lightroom Catalog Previews. Irdata 8.48 GB

Lightroom Catalog-2 Previews. Irdata 422 MB

Mobile Downloads. Irdata 560 MB

How do I select my old folder? If I click on the large Lightroom Catalog Previews. and press open nothing happens, am I being stupid and missing something?

There should be a 'Lightroom Catalog.lrcat' file inside this parent folder. That is the catalog itself. The lrdata folders are support files.

Thanks, I have fixed it now! I hadn’t been fully opening the Lightroom Folder and had not seen the 'Lightroom Catalog.lrcat files Thank you again.
