Hi,

I have recently installed the beta 3 version, but have been having this problem right from the 1.1 version.

When I click on import and find the folder holding my RAW files (Canon 1'D & Canon 5D & Canon 5D Mark II) the preview screen finds the folder, sees the files, indicates the file name then everything goes blank. If I highlight one (or all) of these blank previews (that no longer even contain the file name and info) it imports an absolute blank image. It has a thumbnail holding spot, but no image, preview or information.

I recently uninstalled any program in my computer that processed RAW photos, reinstalled Lightroom but to no avail.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Hi Julie! Welcome to the forums!

What happens if you highlight one of these blank thumbnails and click LIBRARY -> PREVIEWS -> RENDER STANDARD SIZED PREVIEWS? Will it build a preview then?

Hi! Thank you, I love lightroom and what it has done to speed up and improve my business...but on my home computer it just wasn't working.

Turns out wasn't a lightroom issue at all, it was a Windows XP problem. Windows XP was interpreting CR2 files as 'image' files not RAW. I found a driver and download to fix this from the Canon site.

I am so relieved.

For future references if this happens to anyone I'll post the link:

Thanks again for the help!
Julie.

Keep in mind Julie that LR3beta is a BETa and there are no guarantees that work done with this will be usable in future releases.Use copies only.

As a post-script to this thread, another way to solve the problem would be to use a card reader.
