I have just dowloaded Lightroom 2 and had no trouble importing photos from my Canon Ixus but I cannot get the programme to download anything from my Nikon 7's. The Nikon Loads into iPhoto OK but even when I take these photos from the iPhoto database and try to load them into Lightroom they do not work.
Any suggestions gratefully received.:?:

Lightroom has to be opened manually (I am not sure if it is supposed to open automatically as iPhoto does when a camera is attached to the computer). After I have opened Lightroom I connect the camera switch it on and Lightroom does not display any message or open an import screen react. With my Canon Ixsus the switching on of the camera causes Lightroom to display an import screen and works as I expected it to.
As a second step I went to the manual 'import' command and took the option of downloading from a device - still no import screen or any other indication from Lightroom. I then downloaded from my Nikon to iPhoto, then extracted the photos and dragged them onto the Lightroom symbol. The symbol went into bounce mode (in the Mac dock) and at that point Lightroom said it was allocating these photographs a number but they never appeared in the library and no further messages were displayed.

In the camera's Setup menu, there is an item called USB, which is set to either "Mass Storage" or "PTP". If you change that option, does the problem go away?

(This is true for the D7' and D2''. I don't have immediate access to a D7's, but I'm sure it's similar.)

Mark,

I changed it to the PTP setting and it worked perfectly. I had no idea that my camera had USB settings and would never have found this. Thank you very much indeed, you are well named as a Lightroom Guru.

Take a bow Mark !!!;);):shock::shock:

I don't see a smiley for that.

I suggest you put in a feature request to Ian, there is a link ...........
:down::roll::right::?:8):lol::lol:

Nice catch Mark!
