Nikon Color Shift

I would like NEF images when imported into LR 2 to not shift colors. They get a pronounced red/magenta shift. I have a preset which takes this out and it would be nice to get my images right to begin with. When I use Capture NX I get the best colors and ACR in Photoshop works fine, it's just LR that adds this color shift. I turned off all of the settings that I believe would cause this and it still happens. It is less of an issue when I uncheck the make defaults specific to camers serial number. Any thoughts? Any use Capture NX and then import images?

I do not have any color shift issues with my D3 and D3''. When I first started digital photography, someone told me not to use Capture NX. I cannot remember the reason why.

love22, welcome to the forums. From your description, several things could be at work here. Tell us more about your system, your camera. Are you making any choices from the Camera Calibration pulldown at the bottom of the Develop Module [acronym=Right Hand Panel][color=#''8''']RHP[/color][/acronym]?
What happens, if you press Reset at the bottom of the Develop RHP, or if you hold Shift, and press Reset(Adobe) ?

I'll reset everything and try importing again. I don't think I have made any choices in the camera calibration section of the Develop module. Can I make some calibration changes and make them apply to all my imported images? I do understand why people do not like Capture NX, it is not the most user friendly application and is incredibly slow. The images do look good though and I see the full capabilities of NEF file in that program.

Try the reset things that I suggested, on just one of the problem images as an experiment. Sorry, I wasn't clear on that.

Yes, there are several ways to apply changes directly to all images at import. My experiment was directed at finding out if perhaps an unitended change was being applied already.

I reset everything and I created a preset that takes away the red cast when I import. Anyone use any of the Nikon presets that are on Lightroom Killer Tips?

I don't get colour shifts with my Nikon NEF's in Lightroom. LR uses the ACR RAW engine so if they look different then maybe it's a colour management issue with icc profiles. I use the Adobe camera profiles and have found them to be fairly close to NX.
