Quick question. I know I can create and publish web galleries via ftp. Is it possible to create a gallery, and set it up so when someone clicks on a thumbnail, it downloads a full size tiff file?

Thanks in advance!

I think Joe Capra's LRG One gallery allows you to offer full size downloads, and possibly some of Turning Gate's galleries too.

Thanks for the response Victoria.

Joe Capra's gallery is pretty impressive. I'm looking for something a bit simpler. Here's the scenario, I shoot a job, and simply want to give my clients a gallery interface where they can download the uncompressed originals.

Any thoughts there?

Thought about something like Flickr or SmugMug?

bug, are you selling, or giving away? I use a commercial service that can handle that fairly well, if you're selling. If giving away, any of the sharing services, VB mentioned a couple, can be configured to do that.

Not beyond the sharing services, and similar, already mentioned. If those don't do the job for you, I guess we'll need to know a bit more about your requirements.

Sure, this would be the typical scenario:

1 - I contract to shoot a job (I'm paid per job, not per photo)
2 - I finish the job & correct the photos in lightroom
3 - I ftp the photos to my site via lightroom for client download
a) All the photos are displayed in a gallery format
b) When thumbnail is clicked, download of uncompressed-full-size tiff occurs

If you haven't looked at Smugmug, give it a glance. What you need is less a lightroom feature (other than the upload) than the infrastructure to serve up the photos. The nice thing about smugmug (and there are others) is that while not free, they are pretty cheap for the amount of storage (unlimited) and features (thumbnails, lots of customization, slide shows, integration with a couple of good labs for prints, pricing (including free), passwords, etc).

LRG Complete 4.2 will do what you want and more...

EDIT: The demo is here. You will want to check the menus "Free download gallery" and "Digital delivery gallery".

Everyone, thank you so much for the replies I very much appreciate it.

Denis:
I'm impressed with LRG Complete. I guess it's just way more than I'm looking for. A bit like using a chainsaw to slice my bread. I'm hoping for somthing much more simple and intuitive.

Ferguson:
Smugmug is pretty sweet, I'd like to keep it on my own site for professionally if at all possible though.

You can take a look at my current site to get an idea of where I'm coming from: http://www.kielphoto.com
