new user having problems with deleting photos.

I have no problems deleting unwanted photos permanently from disc using LR 2.5 on my iMac. But when I do the exact commands on my MacBookPro, it will not let me move any master to the trash. I have yet to be able to delete even one photo, so I'm guessing I have something locked, but cannot find it or any documentation.

Relatedly, when I do not delete photos, but instead only remove them from Lightroom, how to I access the photos to work with them again? Again I have searched for an answer, but I just can;t find the answer to such a simple question.

Hi Bo, welcome to the forum!

For a start, you need to be in a folder to delete from the hard drive, rather than in a collection. (There is an exception - the splat-delete - cmd-opt-shift-delete will delete from the hard drive from anywhere.)

Other than that, where are the photos stored? If you do a Get Info on one of those files in Finder, do you have permission to modify the file?

If you removed files from LR, and you want to edit them again (for which reason I'd never remove them, just hide them), you can just reimport the files with it set to import at the existing location.
