I just installed LR and am trying to import RAW files that I shot on my Nikon D3''. I've search the boards and read about downloading the Codec 1.2, which I did, but LR is still not showing my RAW files when I try to import. I'm sorry if this is an easy question, but it's driving me crazy! Am I missing something? Thank you!

Can you import them from the hard drive by copying from the card to a folder on your desktop and then import from there?

If you are downloading direct from the camera, try a card reader.
You could detail a little more exactly what is occurring such as is it that there are no previews?
Welcome and thanks for filling in your signature!!;)

I was originally trying from a card reader, but got no preview in LR. I copied them to a folder on my desktop, and magic! Now I am able to import them to LR. Thank you!! What's the deal with that anyways? Why can't I just import them from my card reader (kind of annoying to have to put them on my desktop).

I believe you can import them from the card reader but not see the previews. LR uses a lot of OS operations and it could be something to do with the codec? or whatever Windows uses. Have you d/loaded the D3'' codec for Vista?
I'm a Mac user so am guessing here but have heard/seen this sort of thing.

yes, I did d/load the codec. oh well, I guess as long as I can preview them somehow. Kind of disappointing though when you expect a program to be so great!

In this case it is not necessarily LR's fault. Often OS services problem. Or if connected to Camera, the Manufacturer's, as we are given to understand it.

I don't know much about Vista, but I think you need to update to Lightroom 1.3.1 to get D3'' support. I haven't installed any codec whatsoever and was able to import RAW images from a friends D3'' with LR 1.3.1.

That's the version I've got, I just double checked. Ah, the fun of new technology!!
