New Keywording Functionality

Hi there

I must say i had no problem with it's previous functionality, but i always learn to adapt to the needs of others and evolve with this program.

Having said that i am a little confused on it's current implimentation.

Follow me here.

Test 1 - using the keywords list
1. Import images into one folder
2. Assign keywords
3. Go to 'Keyword list' and choose keywords using the Ctl

1st issue - Now when i do this with ONE word, all i get is a thin white line around the image rather than the whole tile being visable chosen.

2nd issue -When i choose another word using Ctl, having MORE than one chosen i see nothing.

With both scenarios, images that don't conform to the words chosen still remain.

Test 2 - using the filter bar

3. New Filter boxes

1st issue - do i have to use this to choose the keywords i wish to see?

2nd issue - The filter boxes do not conform to the "AND" usage - ie: if i choose all 8 boxes as Keyword filters (within one folder by the way), the moment i choose one keywords in the 1st box, in ALL other 7 boxes the keywords that do not relate to the 1st selection dissapear, not allowing me to perform the "AND". In otherwords, it only allow me to see the keywords that are related to my 1st selection??

What have i missed

1st. It is very important to fully read the release notes (and maybe print them). There are many answers to our questions there. For Ian, time inside and outside Lightroom is also pointed there.

An article by Martin Evening titled Metadata filtering in Lightroom 2.' may be of interest to you. I also read somewhere that selections within a column use the OR operator and between columns, it is the AND operator. Also, it is said that the annoying fact that clicking a keyword selected/filtered photos has been removed.

Although, for those VOCAL few who miss that behavior (who knows why? ), a double click in the Keyword List will do that for you.

OH! I already forgot that one! So many reading to do at once these days...
One might also want to try Alt-Clicking here and there. Adobe also introduced more "Double-Clicks" at a few places; Color pick being an example.

As long as we do not have to Double-Click-Ctrl-Shift-While-Scrolling-the-Wheel...

Forgot to add that in the filter toolbar above grid view, you can Shift-Click "Text", "Refine" and "Metadata" to combine them.

This is common practice in the wonderful Emacs editor I use :cheesy: Also reminds me of the good old Wordperfect days...
