I have just tried changing the folder view in 2.3RC from the standard to Folder path/location and I now have the spinning beach ball of death. Nothing I do will release it. I have tried to force quit and then re-open LR but I still get the beach ball and now can't use LR 2.3 or 2.2 as LR2.3 has locked the catalog

I will do. what prefs file do I need to trash to get 2.3 working again?

Andrew, on Mac: Mac - [systemdrive]/Users/[your username]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Lightroom2.plist

Direct from VB's eBook.

For interested readers, also see VB's tip here.

I found these pres and deleted them and all is ok again now. Have logged the bug so hopefully it will be fixed.
It appears 2.3 and 2.2 share the same prefs.

Andrew, I cannot replicate this so I don't actually know if it is a bug. It may be a case of corrupt preferences though.
First do you rename different versions of LR after install so you can distinguish them? I find this good practice and haven't had any issues with multiple copies of LR i.e. change 2.2 from Lightroom 2 to Lightroom 2.2, etc
I do think you could remove all the preferences to your desktop or somewhere else for safekeeping, they are in User/Library/Preferences. You may find two versions, com.adobe.Lightroom2.plist and com.adobe.Lightroom.plist. Move them both.
LR will generate new ones.
You may also remove the .lrlock file from where your catalog resides, if there is a .lrjournal file as well, DO NOT remove that.
You should be good to go then.
Let us know how you go........

Ha, ha typing at the same time, can you replicate this problem?

Since trashing the prefs it seems ok now, but I don't see any changes when I select the various options. What am I supposed to see?

Andrew, this screen shot show the "Folder and Path" view.

In Library's left pane where are the folders' list, now, the folders' names should be preceded by the path to those folders.

Thanks Geoff, But I have always seen the folders this way. When I change the setting noting happens, I see no difference between any of them. Perhaps it's just me doing too many 7 night stretches.

And it will depend on how long/short the path is.
