My present external drive containing my photos is showing signs of age. I want to have my LR catalog (on my internal drive) use my second (backup) drive as the new source drive.
Is there a simple way to have LR recognize the backup drive as my new working drive?

Welcome to the forum. If your 2nd backup drive is a mirror of the external drive containing the photos, then (with LR closed) rename volume of the external drive containing the photos and then rename the volume of 2nd backup drive to the original name of the external drive containing the photos. When you open your LR catalog file, LR will still see the same volume name but it will now refer to a different disk drive.
