I will give this a shot, but call me pessimistic because I feel like every time I ask for help - help I don’t get. I got a new dell laptop and handed off to the computer geeks and will get it back tomorrow. They transferred the data but as I have found out the program is not easy to work with or understand. I know that I need to update my program because I was on a win8 machine and now I have a win10 machine. I am told it gets 43% thru the update and fails. Am told I need to contact adobe for a fix. As I don’t have my machine at present but if I have the subscription plan of both ps & lr is that cc or classic? I’m not a computer person and I am so tired of computer speak. Can you feel my frustration? I know that I will spend hours on the phone with some adobe person. Yes I have the giant book for lr6 but found it almost impossible to understand sorry. So asking to be proactive

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your new machine. Let's answer your second question first. If you are planning on staying with your CC subscription, then you do not need to keep it installed on your machine. I woudl recommend keeping the install file and serial number just in case you might need it in the future for some reason.

Now, back to the first issue. Did you have any of CC installed on this new machine before turning it over to the "geeks"? If not, and they are trying to do a clean install, ask them exactly what they are tying to install? And ask them for any error messages that are given from the machine. I am suspecting that if they tried to do a transfer from your old Win8 machine, that something may have gone awry. Do you know if they tried a clean install from Adobe? Report back and that will allow for a more detailed response on how to try and resolve this issue.

Good luck,

--Ken

I am not sure. I will ask tomorrow when I pick up the new and old machine. I thought they would just be “transferring what was on my old laptop and then updating lr since the old machine was win8. Nothing was on the new computer

To answer one aspect (until you get your computer back, and we'll help more) if you have Ps included in your plan then you have Classic. You can always go to your Adobe account on the web to check the details. account.adobe.com

lightroom updated so far so good, but I will be back with more questions . As I still don't have a good understanding of the backups etc.
