need help with greyed out photos

I was downloading photos the other night when I realized my external hard drive wasn't plugged in .. (my lightroom library is on external drive ) I clicked to stop the download , plugged in my hard drive and plugged in the CF card to start downloading .. Well some on the photos downloaded and now show up greyed out on the card.. But they are not in lightroom (version 6.0) .. How can I re-download them..

I did a search on here but couldn't seem to find a good answer..

These photos should be in Lightroom, they are just not in the physical location you expected them to be. Click on the 'Previous Import' collection to see where they are.

the thumb is there but when you click on develop it says "file can not be found" ...

That means that the images are in the Lightroom catalog, but Lightroom can't find them in the location they are supposed to be (or they are on a disk that is not mounted right now). As you still have the images on the memory card, the easiest method may be to remove them from the catalog (select them and press the Delete key). Then you will be able to import them again (and this time to the right location).
