Hi,
I scanned some full-frame 35mm images 2 nights ago and tonight I opened them in LR as I am trying to get familiar with the print module. I set the parameters up, Epson 38'', Print resolution of 36', Sharpening standard, Matte paper (Velvet Fine Art) and 16 bit output.
I looked at the preview window and noticed to my great dismay that the image nowhere near filled the A3 13X19 paper and was reading a dimension of 6.788 X 9.835. :( Is there any way to increase the dimension of the image on the paper in LR without re-scanning the original? ???

Bennett, check the "Zoom to Fill" check box in the top right corner......

Re: Need advice on printing scanned images in LR

I looked at the actual size of the image file from the scan and it's 4948 X 3218. Is this image file big enough to make high quality print of 12"X18" as a 16 bit file on an Epson 38'' set to 36'?

Does using "Zoom to fit" degrade the image quality? Is the size the image first displayed at (6.788 X 9.835) the size it would print with best quality or is it a default set someplace in the program?

4948/36'=13.75, 3218/36'=8.94.
You will get closer with 275 ppi: 4948/275=18.
I suggest you put the rulers on and check for the paper size as well as margins then use Zoom to Fit as the next step.
