Because LR is deeply embedded into the devices and folders in a computer, running a backup copy on another PC isn't much/any use. Unless anyone knows better? If it was possible to link to all the original folders etc, what is the licensing situation of using a backup PC? Can I install and run 2 copies of LR classic? Might I have to ensure I was only logged into one at a time?

You're allowed to run it on two machines, but are not supposed to do that simultaneously. I don't know if there is a mechanism to prevent it, though.

There is no control on how many active workstations you may have running LR. When I used a laptop for travel, I would transfer ("Import from another Catalog"). work from the laptop to the desktop while both were running LR.

You can actually install LR on more that two computers However, you can have only two active licenses at a time If you start LR on an third computer, CCApp Manager will ask you to deactivate the license on one of the other machines.

You can only be “logged in” to two computers running LR at the same time. When you try to launch a third computer a screen pops up that shows the other two computers you are logged in on. You have the options of logging out of one or both computers you’re logged into or not logging into the one you’re trying to start/launch. If you’re not online, the third computer may launch several times, but it’ll quit logging in if it can’t connect to Adobe’s servers and confirm your subscription and log ins. This happens to be several times a year as I teach LR from multiple computers.
