Multiple imports to the same directory

Is it possible to have LR auto number files correctly across multiple imports to the same directory without having to specify the start number for each import?

I have several CDs with scanned images from the old film days but they are not in the correct order (1 CD per role of film) and would like to import these in LR so I can catalog these images and also put them on the web.

Let me see if I have this straight. Incremental numbering of images for each folder with multiple imports to a folder picking up where the last left off.

Ex: Folder A.
Import 1 (25 count) - files sequenced 1 - 25.
Import 2 (12 count) - files sequenced 25 - 37.
Folder B would follow the same scheme starting with 1 also.

Morey, that is exactly what I mean. But U would like the second import to start at 26

I don't think there's an way to do exactly that automatically, but you could use the "Import number" filename token to differentiate each import.

You'd get something like image-'1-''1 through image-'1-'25 for the first import, and image-'2-''1 through image-'2-12 for the second import. Not exactly what you asked for, but at least there are no filename conflicts and they still sort in the right order...

If that was me, I wouldn't do that this way. What I suggest is to let Lightroom restart at 1 for each import BUT prefix the filename with the CD or DVD name.

For example, what if in the future some image(s) get corrupted and you have to look in a pile of CDs to find the one? The filename will already tell you that it is in THIS CD and the 3rd shot for example...
