2 questions ...
I have a perpetual license for 6.1.4 on W10 PC
I have a new W11 PC and in the process of reinstalling all my apps

Where can I find my license key on my installed ver ?
I saw a post here that said to go ... Menu Bar > Helo > Lightroom Registration
There is no such entry on my Helo menu

Secondly is there a copy of 6.1.4 install file somewhere I can download ?

For LR 5, the license key was stored in a disc file:
C:\Users\[Your username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Lightroom 5.0 Registration.lrreg

It might be there for LR 6, I don't have that app anymore, so I don't know for sure.

The post you refer to was for an earlier version of Lightroom. Lightroom 6 required server activation and this is no longer possible (Lightroom 6 support ended some years ago).

To answer your question, there should have been an activation key with the product when purchased (either a printed one or in an email). You also used to be able to view keys you'd registered on the Adobe site, I don't know if that's still possible.

Downloads on the main Adobe site ended at the end of 2023 (we recommended at the time Lr6 users download a backup copy).

It should still be available using this link:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/ligh...ailable-on-adobe-servers/m-p/14357593#M352977

I now have the install file Lightroom_6_LS11.exe
I have my license key
Will it reinstall using that without MS activation ?

MS has nothing to do with it. It's Adobe that the license refers to.

I think it'll be a try it and see - as mentioned, their Activation Servers are no longer online.

Hoping we have someone knowledgeable on re-installs.
I have my Serial Number
I have installed AAM v10
I have the 6.1.4 installer

I start the installer, it goes OK then comes to the input serial number window .... put that in, it then brings up the attached window It is a valid license but no valid product code.
I have a previous exchange with Adobe support ... my license key was for Adobe 5, but I had bought from them to upgrade to 6 ... at that time, the response was 'Select LR5 as the product but its OK your installer will install 6

If I select 5 it won't accept it.
Anybody know how I can get LR6 working on my new PC ?
I know Adobe SErvers no longer support 6 ... but can I install as a standalone ?

Just to be clear I repeated steps again:
Pre-requiste – I have AAM v10
I have Lightroom V6 installer - Lightroom_6_LS11
I have my Adobe folder in pictures folder with Lightroom.lrcat file in place
I have my LR 6 serial number and it is correct in 'My Adobe Account'

I install AAM 10
I run 6.1 installer
Starts – unpacks
Asks me to choose install or trial - select install
Opens window for me to enter Serial number - enter correct valid LR6 serial number
I enter, it advises valid serial number but wrong product

It then gives following screen where it asks me to select product

product stall.jpg

There is no option of LR6
If I select LR5 it tells me its not a qualifying product
I can’t proceed past this point

Just to be clear, when you select LR5 as the previous version are you then entering the original LR5 serial number (which is what is supposed to be entered at that point, not the LR6 serial number)?

Yes of course.....but the LR6 serial number that you entered is an upgrade license (i.e. cheaper than the full product license), so Adobe wants to make sure that you have a valid qualifying product that would entitle you to that cheaper upgrade license. So it asks you to tell it what qualifying product you have (LR5 in your case), then it asks you for proof in the form of the original LR5 serial number. Provided the serial number is a valid LR5 serial number, Adobe will be happy to continue to the next stage of activating your LR6 (which you've already installed). All of that is very clear from the wording of the message that you received.

RESOLVED - it's working again
I managed by searching old emails to find a Serial Number for V5 from 2014

For anybody else with similar issue the steps were -

Download and install AAM
https://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe//creativesuite/cc/win/ApplicationManager10.0_all.exe

Re-install Lightroom folder … mine was D:\Pictures\Lightroom
This has the catalogue file Lightroom.lrcat

Download Lightroom 6.1 installer package .. I got it from https://web.archive.org/web/2023122...3AE8E620E/1552643270580/Lightroom_6_LS11.exe

Start 6.1 installer
When it asks for Serial No. > enter LR6 serial number > proceed
It then fails advising valid serial number, but no qualifying product could be found.
In drop down select LR 5
Enter LR5 serial number
Install proceeds
It installs as V6.1.4

All images are there in library.
A lot of ghosted images on Desktop etc., that is just clean up as its on a new PC

I did look at my order …. It does not say ‘upgrade’ it was full V6
There is nothing on my account that relates to V5 ….just luck I had that 10 yr old email.

That all looks like good news.
However, you really want to get to 6.14, not 6.1.4 (unless that is a typo). I don't know where you can source a copy of 6.14 to upgrade with.

Just checked it did install 6.14 just a typo by me

I have to use ADOBE DNG Converter .... just installed it. Anybody recall what compatibility mode to set for working with 6.14

There are instances when Adobe deos not accept anymore the activation - even if you have a valid licence. Then you can not run LR6 suddenly anymore.

There is a workaround for this. How long this will work, nobody knows. I had this problem 2 weeks ago after I bought a new PC.

I moved it sand will continue with LR for a while longer
Have a plan now to move to' ON1 Raw' at some point, its a one-off perpetual license, has all the features I use plus a lot of AI picture optimizing tools.
I know LR (current) may have that but no perpetual license, and with just my recreational photography can't justify a subscription.

The big 'plus' for me with ON1 Raw, is that it supports the import of my LR catalogue with all the edit functions maintained, saving years of my effort.
I like LR but as mentioned above at some point it won't work.
