Moving images in Library

I'm in Library and have been dragging and dropping images (in a new collection) to change the order. This has worked fine and suddenly, I can no longer move images. Yes, I am clicking in the middle of the picture, not the gray frame. The black dividers between images (where you drop moved images) has disappeared so when I drag an image, it has no where to be placed. I'm new to LR and am sure I locked something. (I have gone back out of my new collection, and the same is true within my general catalog.) THANKS, RHD

Try going to "View" in the top menu, and then sort: user order.

Additionally, if the specific folder view you're in has subfolders, User Sort won't work.
The work around is to create a collection, and sort there.

Thanks for the advice. After rebooting a couple of times, the drag and dropped began working again!

Brad, I think if you uncheck the "include sunfolders" in the library menue you can custom sort (drag & drop) even if a folder contains sunfolders
