If I want to actually MOVE originals that are part of a collection from where they are currently stored to an external hard drive as a new catalog, is there a way to do that or will I just be creating a new copy of the images by moving a collection to a new catalog. I've been taking photos of my soccer playing kids for more than a decade and want to move ALL of their team's photos to a separate drive now that they are moving forward. Also, is there a way to tell how much space the original files take up - they're in many random files...

Thank you for your help!!

Hi woodinvillephotos, welcome to the forum!

I'd separate the processes. Move the photos to the new drive, and then separate them out into a new catalog (or better yet, keep them in the same catalog but just move the originals to the new drive.)
