I have been straightening out my Library (which somehow got messed up when I upgraded LR and Mac's OS to the latest versions, had systems crashes, and then went back to 10.0 and Catalina).
I have been attempting to move files - lots of them - back to the folders and sub-folders they were originally in. When I try this, the upper left of LR indicates files are attempting to move... unsuccessfully.
I found a work around where I create a sub-folder with the name, say, "Portland II" because the files don't move into original sub-folder "Portland", but, somehow, do successfully move into "Portland II", the new sub-folder I just created.
Also, another clue for this strange behavior is in the Activity Log. Under CPU usage, I shows 87% idle, about 9% user, and about 4% system.

I mean the files don't move. On the upper left corner, it says, Moving Files. But nothing moves. The files stay where they are. No messages. The photos are not in the correct place. For example, I move files that belong in the "Portland" sub-folder that I have used, they "refuse" to be move, ie, they don't move.

But when I create a new sub-folder called "Portland II", I select and move the Portland related files into the new sub-folder, and they easily go out of where they were and go into that new sub-folder.

That sounds like some kind of permissions problem. How did the photos get moved in the first place?
