I'm new to Lightroom, have been using Elements. I have many images in lightroom albums and they have key words associated with them.

How does one move one's albums and key words into Lightroom?

If your albums are PSE6, you can import them into LR, PSE7 unfortunately is not (yet) supported.

Keywords and ratings will be converted, not things like stacks in PSE though.

Your PSE albums cannot be imported via the Import command into the Lightroom Library Module. You must work on PSE catalogs, not PSE albums.

You must "upgrade" the PSE6 catalog, or import the PSE5 or earlier catalog. You do not import photos or albums. When you do upgrade the catalog, or import the PSE5 or earlier catalog, your tags, captions, GPS locations, stacks, collections/albums, star ratings will convert into the equivalent Lightroom structures. PSE Notes and Version sets will not convert.

Thanks for the replies. Fortunately all my images are stored by year and subject so importing is fairly easy. I'm not sure that the tags are coming with them but it is seeing my tag categories and offering them to me to be used. I may have to re-tag.

The important thing to me at this time is simply importing the files and that is going fine now.

You don't want to import the photos.

You want to import or upgrade the entire catalog, as shown in the link I gave.

Sorry, I guess I was a little unspecific in my answer and mixed up albums/catalogs, stacks/version sets and import/upgrade ;)
