Hello everyone. Great forum supporting a great product! I have been using the trial version of LR for about two weeks but am enjoying it immensely and will be ordering a full version next week. I have been soaking in information and this forum has been so helpful I decided to join. I am going to be asking some very basic questions until I can get over the learning curve....sorry! Here's my first one.

I am in the process of reorganizing my files and folders to better suit LR workflow. Fortunately I have been using a year/date method more by default than anything else. However I have some folders organized by subject and these are duplicates of photos in the year/date folders. When I try to move these files back into the year/date folders, LR will begin moving them but then hit the first duplicate, pop up a message, and stop moving files. Is there a way to tell LR to ignore duplicates, overwrite them (not good!), rename them, or keep the most recent copy?

I know I can do this outside of LR with file transfer apps but I am aware of the "don't do anything outside of LR" mantra so am trying to comply.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Scott

Hi Scott, welcome aboard!

I'd love to say that there is an ignore duplicates... but there's not. It's a feature I'll continue begging for!

Have you done any work on those files within LR? If you haven't, simplest option is probably to use the OS or file transfer apps to get them sorted out, and then import them into LR, removing their original import, rather than having to go through and relink files.
