Monitor Calibration and darker print images

I use an inspiron 6''' laptop and spyder 2 express to calibrate my monitor. This laptop has 7 monitor intensity levels. I have noticed that 5 to 1'% of my prints seem darker than what I view on my laptop. I calibrate my monitor using the highest intensity level and also do my editing on the same setting. Am I better off using a lower monitor intensity level when editing and printing in lightroom or making the print artifically lighter using the brighter slider in the develop module? Thanks!

Jerry, are you still using LR1.3.1?? You would be best to update to 1.4.1.
I think it is best not to use the develop adjustment to do what you ask.
Laptops are not the best for viewing images critically as the viewing angle makes such a big difference. So I would adjust the screen brightness to match your print and accept that there will be differences.

Basically, on a laptop you can't get the brightness correct for this. On a regular monitor one would set the brightness to around 12', a number of thread on the User to User forum talk about how to do this, even when your calibration software doesn't allow for it.

Your just viewing the image brighter than the software actually has it.

Where is the user to user forum located? I have a desktop with a flat screen monitor that I would like to calibrate in the manner you described. Thanks
