Modify exsiting profile

I have a profile that I run at import. It was made by someone else, and I need to modify it slightly.

Please tell me how to achieve this.

Joe, welcome from me as well.

To be absolutely sure of our terminology, are we talking about:
1) a Calibration Profile, accessed thru the Camera Calibration panel, lower Right Hand Panel in Develop, or
2) a Develop Preset, accessed thru the Develop Settings dropdown in the Import dialog.

(Not trying to be condescending :) , just that if you're relatively new to Lr, this important terminology can be confusing)


If #1, then follow Denis' advice. If #2, then there's a different procedure.

And I thought this topic was going to be about the LR forum User Profile. :D And as a gentle reminder the OP could update the LR forum user profile with some system specs so that answers could be OS and LR version specific.

Wow LR has more profiles than a cube ! :)

I find myself tweaking the Sharpening amount to 5' on most of my pics. By default LR applies a value of 25.
Where is it that I can change this "default" to 5' ?

You can create a preset and apply it during import or you can set up an image with all the default settings you want and then set them as the default in the develop menu at the top menu. It will set a default on a per camera basis. If you look in the preferences you can also make it set these defaults per serial number and ISO.

Here's the sequence to adjust the defaults:[list type=decimal]
[li]Bring up an appropriate image in Develop.[/li]
[li]Press the Reset button at lower right.[/li]
[li]Make whatever changes you wish to make to the defaults.[/li]
[li]Press and hold the Alt/Option key. The Reset button will change to Set Default... Press it.[/li]
[/list]If you have set your preferences to have different defaults per camera or per ISO, you may need to repeat this process for each applicable combination.

(Probably should make a Tips & Tricks post for this...)

one more note.... this will change the default settings for all new images, it won't update existing images, unless of course you select an existing image and then hit the reset button.

For those of you that haven't seen it, I'll point out that Mark did write up a nice summary of the 'edited default' process. It's now posted in the Tips and Tricks.
