I have installed my LR classic on a new PC.
Before I did this I have moved (within LR) all my new pictures synced by the mobile LR app in my IPHONE to my picture harddisk to have the pictures physically in one place.
After installation of LR classic to my new PCI have created a new Folder for the mobile syncs and executed a new sync with the new pictures I have meanwhile made with my IPHONE made. This worked well so far as LR has downloaded the new pictures into the the (new) folder including the "info.lua" file, But the downloaded pictures are not in a folder "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" an the LR catalog shows the downloaded pictures no longer as the device Iphone, but as folder on my harddisk.

What did I wrong? And what I have to do that LR shows the downloaded pictures again under "Iphone"?

Thanks in advance
Bernd

I don't think you did anything wrong. If you specified a folder in Preferences for Lightroom sync, LrC does not need or create a "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" Folder. This folder was created as a default because the check box labeled "Specify location for Lightroom's Synced images" is unchecked when you start syncing.

When you turn on Sync in LrC, LrC needs to store the originals somewhere. If that "somewhere" is not specified in preferences, LrC creates this "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" folder

Thank you very much for this answer. This sounds convincing. Nevertheless, the folder created by LRc contained subfolders for each mobile „device“, whereas the folder I created just contains no subfolders, just the new pictures downloaded from the cloud and the file info.lua naming the device that had uploaded the new pictures.

How do I achieve that LR creates these subfolders and show the device name with the new downloads?

This unique device name is no longer necessary when you instructed LrC to Sync to existing folders. I don't know of any way to automatically create these.

If It is important to you, you can create a Smart Collection based on Camera model.

Cletus,
thank for your hint. I will try out the Smart Collection featuere and come back to report.

Bernd
Cletus,
I have learned meanwhile what a smart collections are, but this is not comparable to the feature I have had on my former Lightroom classic installation.
In my former installation I have had in the left folder list a list of my harddisks and the folders associated to Lightroom, and additionally a list of the "devices" I have used to import photographs via the mobile feature of the cloud. This was very convenient for me to process photos from my Iphone and Ipad into the picture database of my Lightroom Classic. Corresponding I had a subfolder in the default Sync folder called "Mobile Downloads.lrdata containing again subfolders for each "device". These subfolders contained the photos i had downloaded via the mobile feature and a file called "info.lua" which contained a small script used by Lighrroom to name of the "device" in the lightroom folder list.

This structure was generated somewhere by Lightroom Classic not by me. I enjoyed to use these funtionality. After migration to an new PC everthing worked well apart from the fact that the list of "devices" for transferring new pictures was disappeard. . When I manually copied the former "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" folder into the actual default location, Lightroom didnt recognize this as "devices" with associated folders, but just as folders containung pictures.

I made it meanwhile, to generate a new (empty) folder and assign this folder as a new standard folder for snyc in lightroom. This works so far as LR now dectects and downloads the new photos, I have uploaded from my mobile devices, but not in the way that LR directs these downloads automatically to the subfolder belonging the correct mobile device. Indeed all photos from diffrent mobile devices are downloaded now together in one folder. This is a setback in comfort to my former installation I would love to reconfigure. But I failed so far.

Therefore my question is would it be promising to reset my Lightroom Classic installation to the factory defaults? Any experiences with that or any recommendations how I can reinstall my former features in Lighrtoom Classic? I use LRC 13.4

"Mobile Downloads.lrdata". is a folder that is generated ONLY when you do not specify a folder to receive sync'd images. You now have specified a different folder and has taken the place of "Mobile Downloads.lrdata " You can go into Preferences and uncheck the box labeled "Specify location for Lightroom's Synced images". and this MAY recreate the folder and its sub folders. I can not say for sure if unchecking the check box will revert to the previous behavior.
