Missing photos/offline

I know this problem has been raised in this forum, but none of the answers given have work and/or applied to me.

I just got LR and imported a folder of files I wanted to work on. After the import I noticed that every photo is shown as missing (The folder itself does not have the tell tale ? though). When I find the missing file and try to reconnect, LR says that it is already associated with another photo in LR and can’t be associated with the missing picture. But when I click "show in library" it directs me to a thumbnail that claims to be "missing" as well. I've tried everything I can think of, including removing the folder and importing it again, and still I get the photo is missing question mark. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

can you right click on a photo and show in finder and not library to find the file on the system

Substitute Explorer for Finder. (Finder is the Mac equivalent of Windows Explorer)
The Show in Explorer will tell you where Lr thinks the original image file is located. If it's not actually there, that's the problem. Tell us what you find.

OOps forgot about people using windoze. Plus i'm working nights so the brain aint working properly
