Missing Identity Plate in New Catalogs

Whenever I create a new catalog my customised Identity Plate is missing.
I have, sometime in the past, unwisely selected "Store Presets with catalog" in Edit/Preferences/Presets.
However, after reading Denis Denis Pagé's thread http://www.lightroomqueen.com/community/showthread.php?t=1'42 I reset my "Store Presets with catalog" preferences back to unselected.
All my User Presets are available in my new catalogs, but not my Identity Plate.
Do I need to re-create and resave my Identity Plate in my master catalog, or is there another way of correcting this.

THis is something we have been complaining to Adobe about for awhile. New and Exported Catalogs do not get any ID's created. If it is a graphical ID Plate just re-select it. Non graphical ones need to be re-created, AFAIK.

I (wrongly) presumed that the Custom Identity Plate was similar to a User Preset or Template and therefore would simply be a file in a folder in the "Lightroom Settings" folder.
Now that I know that Lightroom won't create new catalogs with my custom Identity Plate I'll stop being quite so irritated by it.

In this regards a graphical ID Plate is better than a text one, since it is easy to reselect each time!

The ID plate lives in the catalog, and not in global pref's. This was my very first LR forun question back in prehistory.

Does that mean a simple way of doing this would be to set up my identity plate in a new catalog which I keep empty as a master blank catalog and then, everytime I want a new catalog, save or copy this master blank catalog as as a new catalog?

Incidentally, while messing with the Web module this evening, I spotted that when I applied one of my templates to a web gallery my custom Identity Plate was available to me in my new catalog, even though my Main Identity Plate was missing.
I selected the little drop down arrow below the image of my Identity Plate on the Right Hand Panel, chose Edit and was able to Copy & Paste it back into my Identity Plate on the Edit menu.
Good result.

Haven't played with it enough to comment. You're breaking new ground for all of us ....

(my earlier comment applied specifically to text/font based ID plates) I'm not sure I've ever messed around with graphic ID plates, not recently for sure.

Yes, that's my usual recommended course of action, particularly if you use a lot of different ID plates for TPI's etc.[/quote]

Brad and Victoria,
I haven't been using graphical ID plates as I find that I can set up Text based ID plates easily and they are very quick to edit.
The Copy & Paste of my text based ID plates from an existing web template is very fast and easy do.
