It says i have 7' missing files. But they are in the folders. I can right click and say take me to folder in library and it goes. The files are on my hard drive. But they show up in this list.

Any help?

Welcome aboard. That did seem to be a bit of an issue in LR1.4.1. Personally I just ignored it. I don't recall if synchronising the catalog fixed this or not. It is definitely gone from LR 2 though.
Maybe take a moment to fill in your signature so we don't ask questions such as "what OS are you using?" - thanks.

Some others may have an answer, so stay tuned..;)

Thats a bummer. I just spent the past couple days organizing files now i have this little bug.

I found that i might be able to create a new catalog and have it go away.

Also updated my sig.

Thanks for the sig.
There may be other options that I've forgotten so stay tuned !!:lol:

The little bug is that it's showing you a temporary "Missing Files" collection, which is inaccurate? If that's all it is, you can right-click on the "Missing Files" name in the left panel and tell it to delete the temporary collection. (Or is that only in 2.x? Can't remember.)

Or are you concerned that the files are actually missing?

Well, I ended up fixing it. I had to remove each of the 7' files from the catalog and resync the folders they were in. Then the missing files thing went away.

Definitely annoying.

The other solution, should come past this thread (other than upgrading to 2.x!!!), is to start a new catalog and then use Import from Catalog to import the whole old catalog into it - it usually leaves the faulty Missing Files collection behind.

I have this same problem- only i can see my original photos- but I made (ages ago) a special collection of these photos for a client- if I go to the collection it says the files are off line or missing?

I am on a Mac using Lightroom 2....should i be trying what Victoria suggests above?

TIA.

Bluemist.

Thanks but no- everything is far from normal and I've given up! Am too scared to delete the folders that are missing - and there are photos on the hard drive that suddenly arent in any folders- when I try and import them back in (cause I want them in folders- it tells me they are in the library- when I say show in library- it points to the one photo I have selected and says its a temporary collection.

I seem to have two 2''8 folders and it's all a mess but thanks anyway.

Follow up on the other thread bluemist... that one made more sense!
