missing collections

Please forgive me if I'm doing this in the wrong area ... I was trying to rid my computer of it's previous owner - I'll call him Mark, and move all data to my new user, Mary. In doing so, I completely messed up my lightroom catalogs and collections. I now have a catalog with 2','''+ images but none of my collections, and a catalog (with a different name) with 648' images with "most" of my collections. I called Adobe, and they say I can't just export collections ... any help for a newbee?

You shouldn't need need to export / import anything. You should be able to copy the catalogue across and open it. (you may have to correct some permissions on the images to allow the Mary user to access them) If you want to move the images to a new directory then do that in LR not with Explorer.

Hi Mary, welcome to the forum!

As Nik said, moving the catalog should do the trick. You might find that you need to match up 'missing files' if they've moved from Mark's documents to Mary's documents, but that's quite simple to do, and we can talk you through that.

Tell us a little more about what you've done so far?
