I just bought Lightroom and want to migrate from iPhoto. I know ideally all of my photos would have been in RAW format. Unfortunately that was not possible with the camera I had. However, I have recently purchased a Leica D-LUX 3 which allows me to shoot in RAW format. So now, the problem I'm faced with, is approx. 5 thousand pics in jpg format that I would love to catalog in my new Lightroom software as I move forward shooting in RAW. Has anyone here had this issue, and is there stuff I should watch out for?

Nothing to watch out for. You can have JPEGs right along raw files, LR doesn't care.

If you are applying default presets to your raw files, then you might want to import them separately from the jpgs.

After thinking about it for a second, I figure that it probably doesn't matter. If you have any raw files in your iPhoto library, those setting won't transfer anyway, so you'll have to redo any adjustments from scratch.

Anyone have simple tutorial/step list for how to migrate from iPhoto to Lightroom?
I am Lightroom newbie, migrating from iPhoto because iPhoto not well designed for multiple libraries or lots of pics. Core interest in Lightroom (initially) is in photo library management (keeping track of what pictures are where, avoiding duplicates, etc.).
Recommendations to pointers on what to do/where to look so I can get started without having to commit to learning full features of Lightroom, at least initially.
