Hello, all -

My new Windows 7 computer came yesterday and I will be installing LR2 and CS4 later today. Are there any issues I should be aware of, those of you running Windows 7?

(Haven't updated my signature yet - I'll wait until I get the system running right, but for now - Windows 7, Intel i7, 8GB DDR3 1'66Mhz, 3 TB SATA HDDs, NVidia GTX 26', Dell Ultrasharp 24")

(....Is that more horses than strictly necessary?)

I converted my Vista to Win7. Absolutely no problems with lightroom. Win7 print drivers are lagging and may not exist for older printers. My USB Video driver for my third monitor was not available on install and I just got an updated driver last week. I have not had time ti install and test it.

I did a clean install of W7 64 bit after using Vista 32. I was pleasantly surprised that everything I had worked fine, including Lightroom 2.5.

The result is much faster, but it's a new computer so no direct comparison whether 64 bit and/or W7 made a difference.

[/quote]I installed the Win7 Driver for my USB Video adapter. It actually works better that the driver supplied by the Mfg for my Vista install. I also have a driver for my Lexmark Printer. As it turns out it is the Vistya 64 driver which runs flawlessly (so far) on my 32 bit Win7.

Hello, first post here :-)

I am in a similar situation: I just bought a new PC (with Windows 7 on it). How do I move the catalog from the old machine to the new?

I have the backups of th eold catalog on a networked drive, and the old catalog itself on the old machine.

Should I start a new catalog on the new machine and import from the backup file? Or copy the entire old catalog over to the new machine and just double click it to start using it?

Welcome to the forums esbenm!

Yes, what you said last: Copy over and start it. Also copy your photos with the same structure they are in. For a complete description of the operation, read this.

Hello, All -

Just an update on my Windows 7 migration.

I'm happy to report everything went flawlessly as far as LR went - no issues with plugins or anything else. Some of the CS4 plugins will only work in 32 bit mode, but that is a minor annoyance for now. Printer installation went very well, also - drivers were available on the INternet, and no issues there either. LR is very happy now - I've tried many things to slow it down, but so far flying at megaspeed, even with CS4 running.
