Exact Lightroom Version (Help menu > System Info):Lightroom CC
I've installed my new Lightroom CC onto my Mac and when I try to migrate my Lightroom Catalog 5 I get the following message: This version of Lightroom CC cannot migrate the selected catalogue. Please update the catalogue with Lightroom 6 or newer and try again with the upgraded catalogue. To ensure the ability to migrate, it is also advisable to use the latest available version of Lightroom CC.

I thought I had bought the latest version of Lightroom CC, which is currently open on my screen as I've just paid for it and downloaded it, so I'm a bit confused.

Can anybody help please?

Ann

There are two versions. LR CC and LR Classic CC. Are you talking about Classic?

You installed Lightroom CC, which is not 'the latest version' of the Lightroom you used before. Lightroom CC is a brand new application, which stores the images in the cloud. If you want to continue with the Lightroom you know, you need Lightroom Classic CC.

Oh help! I've probably downloaded the wrong Lightroom! It's so confusing - I imagine I'm not the first to have done this. Yes, I do want Lightroom Classic, but seem to have Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC. Not sure where I go from here...
Thanks for your help..

You should see LR Classic CC in your app installer.

Yes, LR Classic is there and says 'update'. Should I update it and, if so, will the Lightroom CC disappear?

No, LRCC won't disappear but you can uninstall it. Update LRClassic.

Yes you should update but check your version number just in case. If it is calling for an update you should have version 7. The update is 7.1. LR CC won't disappear. I never installed it so I'm not sure about removing it but if you don't want it but it is probably the same as any other software. I see there is an uninstall folder in LR Classic CC folder that is located in HD Applications folder (not the CC application window). There should be one for LR CC as well.

Are still on Mavericks or have you not updated your profile?

Phew - thanks. I've Updated Lightroom to 7.1 , it seems on a trail basis, but I have my receipt number, so hopefully come the time, I'll be able to use that to upgrade and use that number (as I've already paid). I'm not sure what I've paid for - maybe LR CC, but I'll have to face that come the time. I'll uninstall the LR CC now and see what happens. Thanks everybody for your help - you've made an old lady happy!!! :))

Yes, I am on 10.13.x High Sierra, so I'll update my profile information.

It's all so complicated.... :)

Thank you all for your help - I couldn't have done this without you!!

The plan comes with everything. LR CC, LR Classic CC and PS CC. Also Bridge and you get a free website with Portfolio. You can choose what you wish to install and use. Yeah it is a little confusing at first. Like Johan said LR CC version 1 is new product that was introduced last October. It does not have all the adjustment options Classic 7 has.

Now that you are on Classic 7 a whole bunch of new stuff to explore. The auto feature in the Basic window has been updated and is pretty good. You get Dehaze. There is a new Range Mask in the radial, gradient filters and adjustment brush. Also there is a new import build preview called embedded and sidecar. This uses you cameras Jpeg previews so you can start to cull faster as the standard previews build.

Thanks for that link.

Thanks Zenon - I seem to be sorted out now. Looking forward to trying the new features and learning about them.

I have set up auto to apply during import but you can just apply it manually. I don't always agree with so I have created a few presets to undo it. One is to put contrast back to zero and the other is to undo all the auto settings completely.

The more I use it the more I appreciate it but I will tweak other adjustments as needed. It does not distinguish between the subject and background highlights and will underexpose to protect an unimportant background. I shoot charities and occasional events for free and this will be a time saver for me.
