I have lots of photos taken on my iPad and iPhone that are synced to Apple's iCloud. I access them on my iMac through the Apple Photos app. I further have lots of photos (taken with DSLRs and scanned from film) in Lightroom Classic. I want to merge all the iCloud photos into the Lightroom Classic Library so that all can be managed, edited, archived, etc. in a single place on my iMac. I understand that it is possible to migrate the iCloud photos to Lightroom Classic on the iMac by downloading originals to the Mac. Since the migration operation is a one time function, it seems that it will get me an initial baseline combined Classic catalog.
After the initial migration, it seems that there will be capability to use Lightroom Classic with all the photos without resorting to iPhotos on the Mac. This should allow me to further use Lightroom Mobile/Cloud to serve as the home for Smart Preview access to whatever I want on the iPhone and iPad (using the syncing functions of Classic).
The issue is what happens with any photos I subsequently take on the iDevices with the native camera. Is there an automated way to "migrate" subsequent iCloud photos to Classic (sort of like a watched folder import).
