My usual workflow includes making Develop changes in Lightroom and then updating caption and other IPTC in Photo Mechanic. Before exporting the final JPEGs from LR I import the new metadata, usually by selecting all the files and clicking the up arrow icon in the Grid view's thumbnail. I get a warning and choose to "Import Settings From Disk". So far so good.
But now... On a new Mac using the same workflow I see the 'Metadata Conflict" on the thumbnails rather than the 'file has updated metadata' icon. Clicking the icon gets me the same dialog box with the same options to import settings or overwrite. As I've been using the import option I click that. But I get a different result. The IPTC metadata is imported as expected. But unexpectedly all my Develop settings are reset.
As far as I can see both Macs are set up the same, same LR and PM versions. The only difference is one is macOS 10.13 and the other 10.14.
Somewhere I've missed a setting to import and update just the IPTC and not reset the other develop metadata?
