Hi

I investigate, how I will store location information in my metadata. I am struggling if I should use a keyword hierarchy:

places (root)
---country
------county
---------town
------------location
---------------location details

or use the IPTC attributes, which give a little less flexibility and raise usage questions, such as whether to put a village name under city or location.

In any case, entering location information as keywords and IPTC data seems to be redundant.

What are other people do? What do other LR users recommend?

Kind regards

Thomas

I go for both, with a flat keyword list. After all, you never know whether you're going to be searching by keywords or via locations.

If you frequently photograph the same location, one thing worth looking at is how LR2's metadata presets now include keywords too. So you could set up a group of presets for those places.
