As directed when I first opened the new Lightroom a new catalog was developed. But there is no metadata? no key words, no anything! All fields are totally clank!
I have fiddled for an hour with no result. How do I get all the metadata back? thanks...

Solution
Have a close look at the Metadata Panel header, left hand side. See my screenshot, the new icon that I've highlighted is when you have entered the (new in LrC 11) "edit mode". Click on the icon and that will switch you back to the normal "view mode" where you should then see the metadata entries. Also see page F11 in the Missing FAQ book.
